Tourism connects Vietnam with Laos

The central province of Nghe An will cooperate with Xiangkhoang and Luang Prabang provinces of Laos to open tours between the three localities, a local tourism official said.

"We conducted research into tourist sites in Laos and met with officials of the Lao Tourism Services to discuss plans to develop trans-province tours," Hoang Trung Chau, Director of the Nghe An Tourism Service, said.
Nghe An Province is famous for Cua Lo Beach and Nam Dan District, homeland of the late President Ho Chi Minh. Lao points of interest include Luang Prabang - a world cultural heritage site that welcomes more than 150,000 foreign visitors a year, and the Plain of Jars.
Nghe An Province will send a task group to Luang Prabang Province to research the development of craft villages, the director also said.
It will also invite tourism officials of the two Lao provinces to participate in a maritime fair, slated for July, 2006 in the provincial city of Vinh, he added.
